Zantaraia's Ura-Nage Styled Kosoto

Zantaraia's Ura-Nage Styled Kosoto
Zantaraia (UKR) has a distinct way of doing Kosoto where he bear hugs his opponent and takes them down in an almost ura-nage style arch before smashing them on their back.

Zantaraia ties up uke's left arm in preparation for his unique bear-hug style kosoto-gake.

He enters into the technique, hooking uke's left leg. Notice how his right arm has uke's left arm all tied up and his left arm has an underhook grip on uke's right arm. This is typical Zantaraia.

He is fully committed to the throw and has started to bear all his weight onto uke's left side.

To take uke down, Zantaraia does a sacrificing action not unlike ura-nage. In fact, at this point it looks like ura-nage is what he is attempting.

But it is not ura-nage, as Zantaraia twists mid-air and turns it back into a driving kosoto-gake.

It could have easily been an Ippon given uke's bridge. But only a Waza-ari was given. In the end, it did not matter because Zantaraia immediately locked him up in a pin for Waza-ari-awasatte-ippon.
