Interesting interview with Ezio Gamba

The French website lespritdujudo.com has a very interesting interview with Ezio Gamba, the 1989 Moscow Olympic champion and current head coach of the Russian judo team.

In the interview, he talks about how he selected the five coaches under him. The main qualities he looked for were that they were still young and were former champions themselves.
"I made my judgement on those who still practiced, how precise and challenging they were. It was very important to have active trainers. I also spotted those who were respected by the sportsmen."
The other interesting thing was the total commitment he asked of them:
"I asked them to commit themselves like they never had before. They had to be a 100% available, with 3 days off a month... No one complained or tried to bargain. No one ever asked for more days off."
