Abe's delayed kouchi

In recent posts, I featured delayed rolls for seoi-nage and tomoe-nage. Today, I want to feature a kouchi-gari delayed roll. This one is by Japan's Kana Abe, who scores despite originally putting her opponent down on her buttocks only.

Like many other delayed roll techniques, this one wouldn't have scored in the past. But now, yes.

Let's have a look at how it works:

Abe attacks her opponent with a standard kouchi-gari.

Her opponent stumbles to the mat, landing on her knees.

Abe pushes her down, causing her to land on her buttocks.

Normally that's no score but Abe decides to keep pushing.

Persistence pays off. Abe take her opponent to her side.
